| Jim, I like your rendition of "La Paloma". I've been messin with my own version also and it's a fun tune to play. I play it at a little bit faster pace though. |

oop's sorry....i guess you're right, i thought it meant butterfly, i know it was something that flys.. But i don't play a tele copy, or fender import sorry, not sure where you got the idea that i did, or i was a dixie chick fan, which i'm not really.

Hey George, it seems like you're taking my last post a little personally, and really the only part that was to you personally was the "thanks I appreciate it". part...the rest was directed to no one in particular, or everyone... and the references to Dixie Chicks, imported Tele's, tuning, suits etc. was a continuation of my joking around, in an earlier post I said something like "maybe I'd get more responses if I work in something about the Dixie Chicks, imported Tele's, tuning methods, etc...?" , it was a tongue-in-cheek remark because those subjects always get plenty of responses.
None of that had or has anything to do with you personally, and I would have thought that was clear enough, but if you thought it was personal then I apologize. And I was including you and everyone out there as educated musicians that I'd like to hear specific evaluation from. I sure don't see where I wrote anything to get defensive about, but if so I apologize again.

I think it's nice. Not that I'm any sort of expert, but I like your phrasing the way it is.
I think maybe you COULD add a bit more vibrato here and there and not get a hawaiian vibe going, particularly if you kept the vibrato on the slow side. (I would NEVER have said that if you hadn't asked...I probably wouldn't even have noticed, but now that you mention it...)
I think the steel sounds great in that genre, I'd like to hear more.

| Sorry Jim, i guess i misunderstood your original post..my aplogy my friend. I enjoyed your playing very much, and i very seldom comment on anyones playing, but when i like a tune, and THE PLAYER...i say so. Sorry about the misunderstandings. I just don't pay much attention to the rediculious tuning threads, or the dixie chicks threads. So again, i liked the song, and thank you for sharing it with us. And please accept my humble apologies for not reading it clearly. Having glaucoma doesn't help. |

No problem George. And thanks P, I really wouldn't have asked and brought up the vibrato etc. if I didn't want honest opinions and advice. Thanks to the 3 who were kind enough to post.
