| I like banjo a lot. I love bluegrass. I dig an east village bar called Banjo Jim's where I have played a number of times. I am getting together tomorrow with a band called Banjo Jack to see if we might work well together (a roots/Americana trio fronted by a banjo). So you see--I am banjo friendly. Whenever I hear Fleck I want to say to him "man, that is amazing. I never imagined the banjo could do that. Congratulations on your accomplishments. Now, please stop!" |

Steve Martin is a b@njo player too. Better to put them on all at once, than to have them popping up at random all over the place.

I saw Steve Martin play somewhere by himself recently it appeared he only knew few licks.

| I saw Steve doing stand-up comedy at the junior college in Meridian,MS,probably around'73 or'74.He played his banjo during the show and he played very well.As busy as he has been,he probably doesn't get to practice like he should.I know that predicament well myself. |

NOT!!
I've heard him in a jam session before, he knows way more than a few licks. He also plays many styles, he does three finger Scruggs, chromatic, drop thumb, and clawhammer.
Steve grew up with John McCuen from the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, if fact they had a duo at Disneyland when they were just teenagers, and they have a very similar banjo technique. |
