Topic: Nashville 112- enough volume? |

You guys that have a Nashville 112, can you get plenty volume when playing a large gig with just the amp itself, and without it breaking up? I mean without using the line out, or hanging a mike in front of it. I'm debating whether or not to get a bigger amp for large gigs. For instance an outside gig, or a large theater.

I have done an entire night with a 5 piece band with just one 112, master never past 5. If I have any doubts about one 112 being enough, I use two.

| With a sit down audience and a conservative stage volume one NV-112 can handle quite a bit. If you're playing to a dancefloor of noisy people and your bandmates are cranked up you'll defintely do well to have either a more powerful amp or a pair of NV-112s. At least that's what I found. |

| Terry, I have both a NV 112 and a NV-1000. I tend to gravitate to the 1000 No matter where I'm playing. I feel at louder volumes it just sounds better to me. I use a Fessenden U-12 and its got lot of kick on both the high and low ends. The 1000 just seems to team up with it better than the 112 in my opinion. Besides I put some casters on the amp and its better suited for putting the steel on top and rolling it into the gig! |

Mike Brown let me crank a pair of them in a closed showroom at the ISGC. They don't break up. When you push them hard, they tend to compress the sound instead. It's actually a cool sound, a little bit different from how they sound at lower volumes.
The bottom line, though, is that the Nashville 112 just can't put out the really loud sound levels that you'd get from a more powerful amp like the Peavey Nashville 1000 or the Webb 6-14E. It wasn't designed to do that. If I had one, I'd mike it for loud gigs.

I appreciate the info guys. I'm goin to keep my Nashville 112 because I rarely play anywhere where I'd need a bigger amp, and I really like the tone I get since I installed the burr brown chips. But, I'll probly go ahead and get a bigger amp just in case I were to play where I'd need the extra punch.
