Topic: 2 nash 112s volume not equal |

I am running a pre amp to the power amp in on the 112s, one amp master vol set at 9 and the other at 5 just to equal out the volume, I've tried the obvious, Switching the cords around to make sure it was'nt the cords or one side of the pre. Could a speaker be weak to cause this? I'm not an electronics wiz but it's hard to imagine a power amp being weaker than it was without having some other problems too. It sounds better when the volume is equal on both amps, i loose tone when one is louder.
Any comments welcome. |

You can check the wires to see if they are the same but that doesn't mean they are both phase as Peavey, from previous discussions, doesn't have a color code "standard" for speakers.
Since the NV112's only have one speaker in them, the phasing is not an issue and the wires from the amp to the speaker can be connected either way.
I had the phasing problem with a Nashville 1000 and a Nashville 112 and changing the polarity of one amp fixed the phasing problem. (The Nashville 1000 is the same way as the 112 - it only has one speaker so phasing is not an issue). |

An easy test for speaker phasing is to start with the amp 7 or 8 feet apart. Listen and move them side by side. Bass response should increase if in phase. If out of phase your bass volume will go down.
If it is out of phase, swap the wires around on one of the amps. |

| I put a new speaker in the one that had the low volume and now it is the same on both {at 9,} and the tone seems to be back, i'll know for sure tonight when we play! |

I would be more apt to check the output of each of the preamp channels to make sure they are the same. I know you said you switched the wires, but you did not say if you switched the left and right channels.

Thanks Bill for your input, thats the first thing i did but ended up being the speaker.
Thanks Ken and Jack for your help. I know it's hard to diagnose someone elses problems when it's not hands on and phasing is probably the first thing someone would want to try, i never thought of that.
