I am getting bored with the same ole start up and shut down and other sounds. Now i know how to change to different sounds from the drop down menu on my control panel. But my question is, are there anyway to sample the sounds before you change to them. I just think it might be nice to change the sounds once in awhile. It's ok to do this isn't it? So how do i sample a new sound before i change to it?

George, go to control panel/sounds and audio devices then click on the sound tab where you'll see the "program event" window which is where you pick an even to assign a sound to, below that you'll see the smaller "sounds" window where you actually pick the sound for a particular event and next to that there's a button that'll let you preview the sound. Good luck.

You can add other sounds or even spoken words to whatever event you want. Google search will get you a lot of stuff. I used to have one with a female "star trek" voice that, on Windows startup announced "Initiating Startup Sequence". I had another with Arnold Schwartzenegger's "hasta lavista" when exiting Windows.
