I am aware of the TSGA, but I've noticed other places (like the SE TSGA) having steel guitar clubs where people just come and jam.
I know that Norris Family music has their monthly thing....but I was hoping there was something that welcomed players of all levels to jam and trade ideas.
So...anyone know of anything like that here in Dallas? |

Joe your welcome to come play with us at SETSGA in Katy. AS for Dallas really not sure.
Other possiblities are: Tyler I am sure they would like new players also. Here's there website
www.etsga.org
If your in Oklahoma I beleive they are having the meeting in Tuttle the Central Okla club has some beginner and intermediate.
As many steel players in the DFW area you should be able to find some people to play with. Best of luck _________________ ShowPro SD10, Mullens RP, Bose S1 Pro, GK MB200, MB500, Bugera T50 Tube amp with SlidgeRig, TC HOF reverb effect. |

Hi Joe, At the SETexasSteel Guitar Club, we have levels for beginner, intermediate, and advanced players. Each meeting we try to have a teaching segment at one of these levels. We do have a Jam at the end of the meeting, however up to then, new players are allowed to play a couple of songs at their level with the band. Come down and pick with us sometime. Jody. |

Joe,
Both the TSGA and ETSGA (East Texas, held in Tyler) meetings schedule two players each month to perform for the members. There aren't any open jams at these events, but there is plenty of opportunity to exchange ideas and talk steel.
The TSGA Jamboree, held each March, does have an open jam (although you do need to sign up for it in advance) on Thursday night. You just missed this year's Jamboree but we look forward to seeing you next year!
I'd also encourage you to come out to either of these two organizations' monthly meetings and get to know the fine folks. There are many, many players of all levels in our area and I'm sure you could organize some kind of jam on your own or just get together to pick. Also, e-mail or call Albert Talley (TSGA Pres.) and Charles Tilley (ETSGA Pres.) and express your interest in having a jam during a meeting some time. Hope to meet you there. |
