The Emmons does in fact seem to have slightly more sustain and a bigger sound but I couldn't say whether this is due to the scale of the guitars or not. |
Indeed it does Mike.
My Sierra keyless has a 25 inch scale, and it has exceptional sustain. |

I don't think a 1/4" makes any difference in the tone of a guitar and I don't think that should be an issue in choosing a guitar.

Having owned both, 24" and 24 1/4, I don't thing that the extra quarter inch has as much to do with sustain as the overall length of the guitar does. JMO I have no experience with the 25 inch scale guitars. |

The height of the strings above the body/ neck makes for a difference in tone.
I've found that the lower the strings are to the body, the poorer the tone.
Only in my opinion, of course |

I don't know about the difference (if any) in sound, but the longer the scale length, the easier it is to intonate up the neck. Even 1/4 inch makes a difference. _________________ Please visit my web site and Soundcloud page and listen to the music posted there.

IMHO, for the average player, not a thing. All other things being equal, I don't think anyone but some of the top pros would actually be able to tell the difference!
That's only about a 1% change (in total string length), and that's simply not enough to be what I would term "significant". |
