After getting prompted for a few years to update my Acrobat reader (old, needed a hand-crank to start, I think, but worked just fine) I finally upgraded to Adobe Reader 8. It's got some bells and whistles but:
When I click an online link for a pdf. file I get either an error message about being unable to open an Adobe Reader (or find one--I can't recall the message) or I just get a blank inert browser window.
If I right-click-download the pdf file and click on it a reader opens just fine but I've encountered some page formats where downloading wasn't an option.
This is with Firefox 2.0. Any ideas what's gone wrong? Should I reinstall the the reader? Re-download it? Are these known issues? |

This happens to me also in Acrobat Reader 8. I used to be able to open PDF files from links but now I have to right click and save them to disk first, then I can open them in Acrobat from my desktop. This suggests that it is a plug-in problem. I don't know what is causing this problem but now that you mentioned it I will try to find out if it's a Mozilla thang or an Adobe problem.

Unchecking "Display PDF In Browser" from the "Preferences" dialog box solved my problem... Finally. thanks all. |
