I had the chance to try out the Revelation two weeks ago at "The Little O' Oprey and again last weekend at the Siloam Springs show. I was playing a D10 Magnum and I was very pleased with my sound. Needless to say I ordered a Revelation the Monday after the "Oprey".

Jerry,

I'm so glad to hear that you liked it. I was actually just at the bench working on your new preamp right before reading this post. I appreciate the kind words! Back to soldering....

Thanks,
Brad

Joe,

There are lots of power options. A good number of guys, including Buddy Emmons, are happy with the Nashville 112 used strictly as a powered speaker for the Rev Pre. The size, tone, and built in peak-limiter seem to make that a popular option. The more high-end approaches include a number of power amp choices. John Hughey is happy with his JBL loaded Evans cabinets where each cabinet has its own Stewart PA100b power amp mounted in the back. The guys who don't mind gravity have been real happy with the MOSFET Mosvalve power amps. Great sounding amps, but kinda heavy. The Hafler P3000 and P4000 also are great sounding MOSFET amps. Others are using the larger Stewart amps. The hardcore-tone-freaks are using the VHT stereo tube power amps. I bet that's incredible, but I haven't heard one yet. A couple of guys are using the Peavey 300px which is essentially a Nashville 1000 with no preamp in it, just a powered speaker. Others are using a NV400 as a powered speaker, which also has that very useful Peavey DDT peak-limiter circuit.

My current personal favorite is the TC Furlong powered SPLIT cabinet. These are extremely light, extremely powerful, very well tuned powered speaker cab's. I simply run a guitar cord from my Rev Pre rack to the back of the SPLIT, and I'm up and running. Super light, super clean, super loud... I'm fortunate to have a prototype, but I've been told that these will be available to the public VERY soon... TC?? The power amps in these monsters are among the latest developments in class-D switching technology which has grown to become very good, very neutral sounding power amps. I believe that this technology will prove to be the wave of the future. They're so light, and the tone has gotten worlds better than the early days of class-D. They have amazing speed and power in the bass, and the whole bandwidth is very clean and neutral, letting the tone of the preamp and guitar come thru very accurately. My 300W-8ohm SPLIT cabinet (actually 600 watts into 4 ohms) weighs about 29 pounds or so, and delivers whatever I throw at it. It's a sealed back, front ported 12" speaker cab. The closed back is something that was new to me a year ago, and I instantly liked the fullness of the design. (disclaimer: I don't work for TC, nor do I have any financial interest in sales of his SPLITs, I'm just a big fan of the things:)) Overall, the SPLIT power amp is clean and neutral. The speaker is also lightweight NEO technology. The speaker voicing itself is very steel-friendly, very smooth, very warm, very clear. Some power amps such as the fancy tube amps and the MOSFET amps tend to impart a bit of their own sweetening or coloration in addition to that of the preamp. This SPLIT amp doesn't add that kind of color or enhancement. It's just a very accurate amplification of the preamp's signal which has plenty of its own coloration. Very soon I think a lot of people will get a chance to check these things out. Some of you may have heard these things in the Zumsteel room in St. Louis last fall, or in Dallas in the Rains booth, the MSA room, or the Jackson room.

Thanks for all the kind words guys!!

Hey Brad, thanks for the nice words about my powered speaker. To answer your question about when they will begin shipping, I am shipping orders as of last week. I am building to order and I have a few weeks to catch up on existing orders. I am taking orders now. If anyone would like more information on the SPLIT, please email me. For now, below are a couple of photos of Model CB12 in brown with a wheat grille. I also make them in black with a wheat grill.

Nice looking cab, but doesn't the carrying handle on top prevent the Revelation from sitting flat?

Very Happy Brad, Jerry Newberry played through one of your new amps at the Siloam Springs Show on Saturday. He got one of the best sounds I have ever heard out of a steel guitar. Everyone noticed the great sound Jerry got.

i've been using a Sarno Pre and a Furlong Cabinet for the past few weeks .It sounds incredible and the size and weight are perfect. I'm still experimenting but so far the results have been good. I still use my Nash 112 and my 65 twin . it's good to have different flavors. The one common denominator is the sarno black box.

I got my SPLIT from TC earlier this week and used it on my gig last night. I don't have the Rev pre yet, so I preamped it with my NV112. Even though this isn't the ideal combination, it was HUGE. Everyone noticed. The whole thing seemed very smooth and effortless, much more so than the 112 by itself at any volume. I can't wait to get the pre to go with it, but 'til then this 112 has gotten a big shot of steriods.
