| Does anyone know where I could get a free download program ,off the net, to change the pitch of songs already pre-recorded to mp3 files.....I have some recorded material I would like to sing put they are in the wrong vocal range for me....any ideas ? thx.... |

Dale, "Audacity" can be downloaded free and it does have a pitch control in the effects menu.
I have never used any elaborate pitch controls. The ones I have used would be okay to change the pitch about one full tone. Then the quality gets pretty bad.
To change the pitch with Audacity, you must record the music with Audacity and save as a ".wav" file. Then you can work with the file and save the finished product.
I use "Nero Wave Editor" but it is not free and probably no better than Audacity.
Perhaps someone can recommend a good pitch control that will work for you.

There is a program called Slow Gold from World
Wide Woodshed. It will slow a song down to almost zero
and still keep the original pitch, unless you want to change that too, which it will do. |

| Dale, I tried the 'change pitch' tool in Audacity but I'm sorry to report the results were pretty bad. Maybe I wasn't using it right but the segments of the track I applied 'change pitch' to stuck out like a sore thumb when played back. The pitch was changed alright but the overall sound of those portions was just weird. Most likely a more sophisticated ( read 'not free' ) program is needed to do a passable job. Apart from that I have had a lot of fun with Audacity though. |
