I would think that the amp builders for small amps like we use around the house for steel guitar would wise up to the fact that our late model computers have speakers that rival the home stereo system. I have removed the BIG speakers from the stereo, and have very small speakers in a Denon system, which really perform. Anyone have any thoughts on this? Non-pedal steel guitarists are more tone conscious than other guitar players from what I can determine. Tone seems to be king before volume is.

I'm not sure what you're asking here, Bill. Are you wondering why people don't use mini speakers such as the combos found on many computer?
Please clarify.

What I was trying to get across is the performance of small speakers, like in Bose and Denon stereos. They are only around 3"X8" and they sound off with great bass response and sweet highs. The newer computer speakers, like JBL and others have good response as well.
Just my own observation. I haven't tried a set up with them yet.

I've long put my steels thru a Bose Accouticwave or whatever the first unit was they came out with (w/cassette), and it was always a tone favorite as long as you didn't push it hard.
