Look under the Links section for Dapper Dans material. I find it a great help.

I've spent a small fortune on various learning materials over the last year. Each one has it different strong points. For scales I got the most from this book:

"Mel Bay's Deluxe Pedal Steel Guitar Method"
by DeWitt Scott
200-page Book with CD

It starts a slow, assuming no music experience.

Available here on the forum!

JMHO, FWIW, TGIF, etc. etc.

Here are some exercises I worked out a few years ago for scales on the high strings:
Tab:
F#_________1___________3___________4#__________6___________8________
D#___1___________3b__________4___________6___________8______________
G#____________1___________3___________4___________6___________8_____
E ______1___________3___________4#__________6#__________8___________
B __________________________________________________________________
     e  f  g  a  f  g  a  b  g  a  b  c  a  b  c  d  b  c  d  e

F#____________9#______________11______________13____________________
D#____9_______________11______________13____________________________
G#________________9_______________11______________13________________
E ________9#______________11#_____________13________________________
B __________________________________________________________________
      c   d   e   f   d   e   f   g   e   f   g   a

F#____________1___________3___________4#__________6___________8_____
D#______1___________3b__________4___________6___________8___________
G#__________________________________________________________________
E _________1___________3___________4#__________6#__________8________
B ___1X__________3X__________4X__________6X__________8X_____________
     d  e  f  g  e  f  g  a  f  g  a  b  g  a  b  c  a  b  c  d

F#_______________10______________11______________13_________________
D#_______10b_____________11______________13_________________________
G#__________________________________________________________________
E ___________10______________11#_____________13_____________________
B ___10X_____________11X_____________13X____________________________
     b   c   d   e   c   d   e   f   d   e   f   g

'b' means flat the string, '#' means raise it a half step, and 'X' means raise it a full step.

Josh,
I sent you an email requesting your email address, so I can send you a detailed, but easy to follow chart of scales on the E9 neck.

It would be handy to have a good source for the scales.

I've been tempted to buy some of the DapperDan products.

Marc, did you make up your scale material yourself or find some somewhere else???

Casey,
I basically figured out the scales on my own.
The chart includes Major, 7th, and Minor scales on the E9 neck, using only the basic A, B & C foot pedals, without needing to engage any knee levers. It is written in my own method, which I believe is detailed, yet easy to follow. It is in "word doc" format. About a year or so ago I sent out between 300 to 400 of these to steelers around the globe.
Anyone who would like a free copy, just send me an email.
