I need a typical rumba BIAB ending for "Blue Spanish Eyes." I'm using L~RUMBA3.STY. I've tried using three dots, 2 dots and 1 dot on the last chord but haven't yet found the secret. Anybody out there know how to get the typical "bump, bump, bump" rumba ending?

It won't be the end of the world if I can't get it -- it's just one of those "challenges" that makes me want to kick my computer.

Hi Roy, I played with that rhythm a bit and if you click on the button with the "S" on it as indicated in the screen shot below you can choose to generate a 2 bar ending that should give you what you want. You can also specify to start it 2 bars early.

Roy, if what Andy said doesn't generate what you want try this:

Set your cursor in the song's chord sheet where you want the ending to start,

Press Ctrl-N (or click on the "S" button),

Click on "Bar Settings",

Enter in a value of 100 in the "% tempo change" dialog box,

Then in the first half of the bar of the ending enter whatever chord you end on like this "C", then in the second half of the first bar of the ending enter "C..,C..", then in the 2nd bar enter "C..".

I don't know of any way to split chords into 8ths so this essentialy doubles the tempo so quarters for the last two bars have 8th note values.

Hope this helps,

Brian

Roy, we'll have this problem resolved in a matter of minutes, after you send me the song file. I'll shoot the amended file right back to you.

Thanks to all of you. Big Jim Baron also emailed me with a proposed solution. Your offers and suggestions are sincerely appreciated.

The methods described by Brian and Andy provided the answer, but I couldn't get it to work the way I wanted it until Jim Baron emailed me an example. Neat trick, doubling the tempo in the coda to make quarter notes effectively into eighth notes.

Thanks to all of you, it didn't become necessary to kick my computer.

Roy

Hey Roy, glad you got er figured out I played some more with that ending you were seeking and doubling the tempo of the ending tag with a c... c...,c... c... in the last two bars worked pretty slick. I've got a few tunes with that ryhthm that I'm gonna change to that ending.

Jim Baron was very kind to write a short BIAB arrangement with the rumba ending. If any of you want a copy of the BIAB file, email me through the Forum email system so I can get your email address (under the assumption that Jim has no objection). Just mention the word "rumba" in the body of the email.

Incidentally, if anyone wants to purchase BIAB I strongly recommend getting it from Jim. He is a BIAB dealer, and will give you outstanding service and support.
