I am looking for a Bay Area based lap steel tech. who could help me update my 1941 Vega. This guitar is cosmetically pristine, but needs both a new tone and volume pot. I probably would also change the tuners. Any guidance is appeciated.

I've had work done before by Gary Brawer. He's done work for Joe Satriani as well. Farther south, Gryphon Stringed Instruments has Frank Ford.
Either of these gentlemen will do a fine job on your lap steel. If you need other recommendations, please let me know.

I've gone to Chris Barnett for years. He used to work for Gary Brawer and does great work (really nice guy as well). He currently has a shop just outside of San Rafael. His e-mail address is chrisbarnettelectronics@hotmail.com. He also works on amps.
