I would like to change the 2 P/U on my D10 Franklin, currently a pair of E66 that I find too crispy on the E9 and not as deep voiced as I expect for the C6.
Have you experimented such a mount on a Franklin?
What will be your choice concerning new pickups?
Thanx for your advice.

The age of the Franklin determines what was orginally on the guitars. Originally he was making his own single coil pickups but he later started using Lawrence pickups. I have a late 81 model D-10 and it came with Lawrence 705 pickups.
I now have Lawrence 710 pickups on my Franklin and have had these on for a long time.
EDIT: I do not have the 510 pickups. I've already had an inquiry about buying the 510's. They were sold when I installed the 710's. |

It probably had the Lawrence 705's originally.
(Mine is S/N 65) |

i'd go w: the BL 710 ( double coil) or if you can't get original Franklin single coils, opt for True Tones |

The reason I got into the Tonaligner pickups was because they sounded so good in my Franklins. I bought the company from Jim Pitman because he didn't want to do it any more. So now I'm making and selling them. Send me an Email if you are interested. _________________ Bob |

In ’80 I bought new Franklin #024 and he used his own wound P/U's which I really liked, but; by ’83 he was no longer winding his own P/U's when I bought new #069. He then installed Geo. L's. In ’05 I bought new #192 in which he used L–710's. I liked the P/U's in all my Franklins, but; if I had to make a choice now, I would definately choose the L–710, although I am currently using the Geo. L. 10–1's in my Derby and I like those a lot also! _________________ <marquee> Go~Daddy~Go, (No), Go, It's your Break Time</marquee> L8R, jb

My first thought about it was effectively BL 710. My second thought was PF-1 and PF-2.
Any comments? |

The last time I asked what Paul Franklin, Jr was using in his guitars (two years ago) his Dad told me some had Lawrence 705's and some had Lawrence 710's. |

I replaced the 705 on my E9 neck to a 710 a year ago. Wasn't a big job, but the new pickup was a little to wide, so I had to cut off a little of the mountingplate to fit it. Yeah and by the way, my guitar is nr 85(from around 1984). |

Has another Franklin owner experimented the same problem with the 710 as depicted by Tommy? |

I haven't heard of anyone else that had a 710 that would not fit in a Franklin, without modifcation. Must have just been yours. Franklin Guitar was selling 710 pickups (may still be) and where I got the ones for mine.
The only thing I had to do was enlarge the mounting holes a little as the stock mounting holes in the pickups would not completely line up with the screw holes on my Franklin. |

Any opinion 'bout PF-1 and PF-2?
And Bob, can you tell me more about the Tonealigner pickup? |

I have a PF-I on e9 and PF-II on C6.
I'm pleased with the sound but i have never tried any other pickups in it, so i can't compare.
Maybe the grass is greener somwhere else
