I am trying to find the OD & TPI for Stringmaster legs. Also interested in any for sale too. |

There was a thread about this a couple days ago. Bobbe Seymour said "seven eighths OD --- eleven TPI".

Thanks Brad-PS210s were made for sit down playing only & they had end plate mounted legs, so I wonder if they're the same as on Stringmasters. |

Very hard to find. I had a heck of a time trying to get a replacemnt leg when I was restoring my Stringmaster. Finally found one in the old parts box at Bobbe Seymour's. Good luck in your search. Nick |

Don Burrows makes legs and sockets for Stringmasters & other steels. He has made several sets of legs for me and his tolerances are tighter than the originals. He does great work and gets it done fast.
Here's his email:

Whit, Rick is right on the money regarding Don Burrows. I ordered a set of replacement legs and sockets from him for my '53 T8 and couldn't be more pleased.
Don machines the sockets so that the legs extend at an 18 degree compound angle. This gives the guitar a very nice, stable position, even when playing it standing up. There is an issue of the inner socket diameter interfering slightly with the rod that holds the necks together. This is easily solved since Don makes these from 6061 alumimum and you can add a bit of clearance yourself if necessary. |

25 years ago I foolishly parted out my stringmaster. I gave the legs and sockets to my friend who had an old Fender Rhodes piano. The sockets were interchangable, same threads etc. You may be able to find parts from an old Rhodes to adapt. (The legs were slightly different to attach "X" braces, but would certainly work.
Sincerely;

So if I wanted to get replacement legs for my Fender Deluxe 8, I'd have to buy new sockets as well? Looks like a $200 job for a $500 guitar. The 3 legs alone are almost $100 before shipping. Maybe I'll stick with the non-adjustable ones it came with. |
