Boss Fender 65'Deluxe Reverb-amp and Fender 59 Bassman stomp boxes. Something for us who are searching for the fender sound? Anybody tested them already? |

Can you plug it straight into the mixing board? |

I played the Deluxe Reverb pedal at the NAMM show. I liked it. It was a very responsive pedal. You could adjust it so when you picked lightly it would play cleanly and as you poured on more bite in your picking it would break up just the right amount. It sounded very natural unlike a lot of other modeling amps and pedals I have tried. I want to add one to my board when a have a spare buck and a half.
Best,
Rich |

I did see the '59 bassman pedal at NAMM as well. I gave it a listen but didn't but didn't play through it. The local Guitar Center has the '59 in stock now so I'll have to check it out.
Listening to both padals (understand there where different players as well), the Deluxe Reverb was more interesting to listen to. The way it reacted to picking changes made it sound good. The '59 kind of sounded the same all the time. Might have been the players, the line was too long for me to wait to try it for myself. |

Well, I went and wheeled and dealed and got the Bassman pedal. I use a Vox AC15CC that's been modded a bit, and an Oahu Tonemaster. I tested it with the amp on it's normal playing settings, and cranked the Top Boost on the Vox.
The pedal has a bright input and a normal input. The bright input was great for more overdriven sounds, and actually sounds a lot like the reissue amps I have played. I don't know about the actual '59, as I have always been a bit too broke to spend that much on an amp.
It has a surprising amount of room before it hits distortion; lots of clean settings to play with, and it really does sound Fenderish, even through the vox. Overdriven, it actually sounds VERY Fendery. of course it does not sound like a bassman because the amp is British and that just can't happen...but through my gear I felt that it was a good enough substitution that it was well worth the money, especially if you don't want to carry multiple amps. I am taking it to a friend's shop soon and running it into his BF Fender. |

Kevin, Joey Ace has had one for years. Also has Lloyd Green tone. Maybe he will repost the picture.
Unfortunately, his unit will not reproduce the runs and licks. |

The Deluxe Reverb pedal sounds almost too good to be true. It plus a direct box would make a great backup configuration for a lap steel player (or a Tele player, or both, like me). I think if you've got a clean amp like a typical pedal steel amp and you want to play your PSG plus a Tele through the same amp, stick that DR pedal between the Tele and the amp and away you go... You'll avoid carrying two amps to a gig. Sounds like a win to me. Incidentally, I've got one coming... _________________ So many stringed instruments, so little time... |
