I have an Emmons S10 push pull, about 1970. The pick up is micro-phonic and getting worse. I can now hear the pedals and knee levers moving; its really loud if you tap it accidentally with a pick. (It is probably original.) So a few questions.
1.What is the normal replacement pick up to use when this happens. I understand pickup sound is subjective, but I am a beginner so, any suggestions will be appreciated?
2.Is this a wide or narrow mount.
3. Can the original be repaired or rewound? If so where?
4. Does changing the pickups on a steel effect the value of the instrument such as with vintage 6 string guitars?
Thanks

Marvin, Your pickup is a wide mount , and Jerry Wallace does a great job with pickups. You could also send it back to the Emmons company and have them rewind it. |

I agree with having it rewound. Those old single coils are part of what makes the guitar magic. |

I would put an Emmons pickup back in it. E-mail Jerry Roller and he can get you one. He is a member here on the forum. If you can't get in touch with him just e-mail me and I will get you in touch with him. Buck |

Gentlemen,
Thank you for your advice. I forum member has offered to sell me an Emmons single coil as a replacement, which I have ordered. Then I will send the original to Emmons for repair. I need all the magic I can get.
Thank you all,
Marvin |
