I had one just like that. While I like the color scheme I found that the design layout of the fingerboard with the angled wide part blending into the narrow part made me nuts! There was a parallax(?) view issue that gave me a hard time placing the steel as I went up the neck. Also the bridge cover prevents picking at the bridge to brighten the already dark tone of the P90 pickup. |

I think 2K is pretty funny for an Ultratone, no matter who owned it. |

I'm a big Fogerty guy, hey-he's "one of our own" here in the Bay Area.
But this celebrity owned guitar pricing thing is getting ridiculous.
You could have a beautiful new non-pedal guitar from Bill Asher, Herb Remington, or Reece and company at MSA (SuperSlide) for this kind of dough.
Weren't these Gibsons known for cool aesthetics but not-so-great as an actual musical instrument?
I'm sure there's somebody out there with money to burn that'll jump on this one, sooner or later.

$2K for any Gibson Ultratone is way up there in the "WHY" of life, but there is a butt for every seat in this world.

Did Fogerty actually play this on any CCR song we'd know? |

How about Rick's cast aluminum "Dust Pans?" You could pretty near buy two for what this starting bid is. And Rick's comes with "killer" pups! The Hawaiian guys love 'em.

I have one just like it and mine used to look like that, however John's is in better shape than mine. The years of wear took it's toll on mine so several years ago I painted it, replaced the tuners and had a new bridge & nut made. Beautiful guitar there on ebay. I'd like to have it myself. Nick |

Reviving this thread to say I saw this steel at a local guitar swap in Westchester county. Guy still wanted $2k for it. No one was jumping at the chance. |
