This is Zum's student model. I think that they are no longer being made, but I'm not sure. Like most student models, its mechanism is limited - the right-moving levers LKR and RKR are the only actuators that can lower strings, and strings 2, 4 and 8 are the only strings that can be lowered.

This one looks from the pictures to be in showroom condition, like one I saw on display at the ISGC about ten years ago. I wanted to put my diatonic copedent on one and Bruce explained to me why it couldn't be done.

No, this guitar does not have a high tech changer.But it's Fine for a standard set-up.Not good if you want to add the so called Franklin pedal. Or split tune or add the 2nd string raise.

As stated, It plays like a dream. Sounds great. But tone is subjective. But sustain is not. It either has it. Or it don't.This one has it.

Jack I felt you priced the guitar under the money.That's why I bought it. However I had no idea the guitar would look, play and sound as it does.

People buy stuff & resell it at higher prices all of the time...I've seen that numerous times here on the forum.

No big deal. Bobby can charge whatever he wants no matter what he paid. If someone pays that much for it, good for him. If Bobby can't sell it for that price...I'm sure he'll figure something out.

I think it was kind of wrong for Jack to make the comment that he did...no good could've come from it.

That's how auction sites like Ebay work. I've known several people who buy something for dirt cheap & turn around & sell it for premium prices.

I've never met Bobby but I know that he contributes to the forum & sells stuff all of the time. I've played a stage-one & I didn't like it...doesn't mean that someone else won't think it's awesome.

If someone wants a stage-one...this one looks pretty clean to me.

BUMP for a clean stage-one with case!!!

I've sold stuff at a loss, and then CRINGED at the price the buyer had placed on it---And the other way around. It's called free enterprise.
I've argued with Bobby a lot on this Forum, but his price is his price---If you have no interest in owning this guitar, why worry about the price? And if you DO want the guitar, then haggle in private, via email, phone calls, whatever.

The price is $900+ freight.I think the price is fair. The guitar blows the Carter away. Only my opinion of course. But I own both.Plus the fact there will be no more of these built by Bruce. But, if you like long stiff knee and pedal action? And don't mind undercarriage rattle.Save a few bucks and buy the Starter. Thanks for looking.......bb

Players can afford to buy and sell at near the same price, and for that they get the privilege of playing the instrument for awhile essentially for free. But you can't expect dealers and collectors to do that.

I bought a Stage One used for $300 in 1997. About $50 in parts from Bruce, and it was ready to go. Actually was my first pedal guitar. Also came with the 4th knee. It hasn't been out of the case in a while, but I guess I'll keep it. Maybe it will turn into a collector item some day ha ha

b0b. I'm curious.Besides the fact you can't install your personal tuning.What else do you not like about the Stage One?

Is it the short soft pedal and knee pedal action?

THe fact there is no need for lower return compensators?

Or is it that it only has 2 cents cabinet drop on the E's? And 7 cents on the 6th string when the C pedal is pressed? The C pedal tells the tell. You guys check your pro models.

Bruce Zumsteg would not put his name on a piece of junk. That's the reason every pro guitar he's built in the last 20 years.If in excellant condition. Will bring more than they sold for new..

B0b is certainly entitled to his opinion.As for the value of something? I can sit here and pick any deal apart .And give you a reason why you shouldn’t buy anything.

Example. My opinion might be..A guitar might be to old .Bad color. Too hard to work on. Hard to get parts for. Too hard to change the set-up. Doesn’t sound good. Doesn’t sustain good. You get the idea. Everyone has a opinion.

I don’t care for b0b’s choices of guitars. They are well built. Just not my cup of tea. For reason’s I won’t get into out of respect for the builders and owners………Thanks……….bb

As with any thing a person sells to make a dollar, the money is made in the buying...If you can't buy it right you can't make a nickel on it.
Once you sell an item , what the buyer then asks for it, is not relative at all. For you, to reveal the selling price is kind of a cheap shot. Bobby you should ignore this whole thread and the dissenters..

Pedal 1 B's to C#
Pedal 2 G#'s to A
Pedal 3 E to F#
and B to C#

Knees

LKL E's to F's

LKR E's to D#

RKL Both F#'s to G#'s

RKR D# to D or C#. Your choice....

A lot of great steel has been played with a lot less.
