I walked in and heard some awesome swing and jazz. Starla was singing Jimmy was on guitar and an old friend Lonnie Patterson was on guitar and Bobby Regal on drums. There were two young Kids on Bass and Keyboard.I thought no way was i going to unpack my guitar and play with with these guys. These two young kids were around 15 years old. They sounded like seasoned pro's. Thier names were Kane and Jacob Hiser. the one on keyboard also played the fire out of the fiddle. Any way the music was great and Jimmy and Starla have a great place. Its worth your time to go by and see them . You'll Love it.
By the way I did get to play a few songs with them,
mostly three chord stuff. |

Thanks Bill! We had a great time! You sounded great and it was great to see you. It was such a pleasure to work with everyone. We got to do stuff from Lady Be Good and Deep Purple to Roly Poly and Way to Survive.
I want to give a special thanks to Rompin' Ronnie Blecher who as always "Drove us home" during the last set when we were swingin'. He's a dear friend to us. Ronnie works with us at the Arena and we sure appreciate him so much! He did an outstanding job! They just don't come any better than Ronnie. Thanks Ronnie for helping us put this jam together.
We also want to thank my good friend Sheila Harrison from Grandma's Country Music Show (Mark Twain Lake area)who shared her talent with us. Also, a big thanks to Bobby Regot who drove from St Louis to be part of the jam! Bobby & Jimmy have been great friends for many years and of course share the position of staff drummers for the ISGC. One of our best friends Norm Allee (Vocalist & Pie Baker) did an awesome job as usual.
Lonnie Patterson sounded as great as always on guitar and vocals. Lonnie is also another musician who is like family to us. Thanks to our good friend Buddy Phizer (Drummer) for jammin' with us! We were just disappointed that Buddy didn't sing! Just Because........
We want to thank Bob Mason (steel), Jerry Cox (fiddle), Bob Nay (vocals), David Tunnel (piano), and the rest of their group for jammin' on Sunday. They did some great tunes including Heart to Heart Talk and Westphalia Waltz. Bob Mason & Jacci have become great friends.
We want to thank Gerald Simms and Skip for joining us. It was also a pleasure to hear our good friend Ray Carson who sings up a storm. What a big voice! It was also a pleasure to see our good friend, Ernie Wymer - another fabulous vocalist. He can sing "higher than a hawk's nest"!
And last but not at all least - the Hiser Brothers. What talent! Jacob is 16 and is an outstanding piano player. It was unbelievable what he was playing - he could keep up with any jazz musician! He also played the fire out of that fiddle. His brother Kane (18 years old) was playing a fretless bass and took solos that would have impressed anyone. He also plays classical piano. In fact these boys are schedule to play at Carnegie Hall with the Springfield Youth Symphony. They also have a website so check it out.

We had such a great time and by popular request, we are going to do another jam this coming Sunday. Who knows - this may become a weekly jam if folks want to do it. We had several people ask if we could do it again this week (Musicians & some of the folks who came to listen)so we thought - Why not?
So, if you are in the area, come out to Queen Arena for this week's jam. Kitchen opens at 12 noon and the jam will start at 2:00. Queen Arena is located near the junction of Hwy 54 & 73 in Macks Creek (15 miles west of Camdenton at Lake of the Ozarks) |
