FYI . . . spotted a bakelite Rickenbacher Model 8 up for grabs in the Guitar Center in Mobile, Alabama.

The Chrome is lightly pitted and the tuning gears plastic buttons need replacing.

They had $800 on the tag but will bargain from there.

This may sound dumb, but I don't know what a model 8 is. Is it an 8 string bakelite? Bobby Ingano has one of those.

This was just posted on eBay. Looking real sweet.

I don't know the Richenbacher models very well!
'Model 8' is what the tag said on it, and in retrospect, I should've realized that the Guitar Center guys may know less than I.
However it is the same body-style of the one in the ebay auction that Gary posted above.

Then it is fairly clear----a handwritten tag? Model 8 is Model B. Yes?

Well, B7 seems more like a model number for it. It looks pristine.
The catalogs just say B6, but available in 7 or 8 strings.

Man, that Ricky is sweet. I've got a pre-war B7 with the white bakelite plates and two knobs on the audience side.
