Otherwise know as I.A.D.D. I think this disease strikes all musicians at one time or another. You are at a gig and someone plays a mandolin and you say to yourself "wow, I should learn to play that" You buy one and then later you hear a bass guitar and so it goes. The next thing you know you have a music store in your studio.
Do you find yourself with this illness? My wife said I need help...
I don't know if this qualifies for disability but it may be worth a try. |

It's not a big deal.
It happens to many of us.
It's just a little GAS.

I.M.A.D.D.
Instructional Material Attention Deficit Disorder:
I have a whole shelf full of classical guitar instructional material, fake books, sight reading instruction, counterpoint, theory, jazz guitar methods, steel instruction, even CD's with billions and billions of notes of jazz songs and classical violin and symphony orchestration. Funny thing is, I don't play any better no matter how much I load up the shelf.... I, madd indeed.... ![Confused](images/smiles/icon_confused.gif) |

A dozen guitars, 5 steels (including a resonator), a bass, a couple of keyboards, gadgets, PA & recording gear.....
I've been accused of having a den that looks a lot like one of the chain music stores.
Just remember, when a loved one "asks how many is enough?".
the right answer is...
"Just one more" _________________ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I played guitar when I was a kid, and took it up with classical lessons in Jr High and High School, played some "recitals" and then it faded.
I took PSG Lessons from BC while in the USAF, while still "fiddling" with guitar, and going over old studies.
I was told "do one or the other.
I played nothing but pedal steel from the time I started gigging in 79 with a guitar at home for "figuring things out" and occaisonal "rhythm playing", til a year and a half ago. That's almost thirty years.
Bought 5 Squiers and a G&L which I fell in love with, and after practicing 2+ hours a day for six months, starting playing it onstage.
I'm moving more and more into my guitar studies, and though I play steel on my gigs, I'm starting to think "guitar" more and more. I still practice 2+ hours a day and eat up everything I can find. I might even take some time out from PSG and get a job as a guitar player.
I don't think I can be accused of "flitting" from one to the other.

not only can i not decide what instrument to play, i've never been able to stay with one style of music. once i went from a gig playing jazz guitar to another playing steel in a country band and then another playing bass in a blues band all on the same day. i never had any intention of broadening my job prospects or anything, i just go with whatever inspires me to play music. |
