I replaced the 10" speaker with a full range Electrovoice 12" speaker. It's louder, brighter and I have been playing this sweetheart for over 35 years!

The pedal steel sounds amazing through a leslie!

It becomes a Leslie 18 when you do that.

It can be done, but realigning the baffle for the mounting holes of a 12" speaker takes some planning and careful readjustment. I've seen it done badly and the baffle mounting ruined. Try finding a replacement.

I would not bother - in mine, I put a Weber California 10 (with paper dustcap to avoid excessive highs)in it. With the crossover doing what it's supposed to do (sending the highs/lows to the guitar amp speaker and the mids to the Leslie) it sounds huge, stays clean...I'd see no real benefit to making the change. It might sound a litle fuller, but with the way the circuit is designed changing to a 12 seems like a lot of work for very minimal results.

Edited to add - I don't know why in the world one would want a brighter speaker in the Leslie anyway, when what you WANT to push are mids. If you don't have the crossover, you're missing the whole point of the thing and need to find one and use it before making changes.
