Estaban Bojorquez has a new blog with photos of some of his unique lap steels. I noticed he has linked to my book and I don't want to seem self serving - I've never talked to the man, met the man or even played one of his instruments. I just love the way they look and how each is so different. His creativity and willingness to pursue an original aesthetic is very impressive. My early career was in fine arts so I can definately relate to the vibe. Way cool. anybody play one of these?

Hi Andy,
As you may recall. Esteban (Stephan) is a friend of mine, and I brought his work to your attention during the process of completeing your fine Lap Steel book.
He lives within walking distance to my home.
Every instrument he makes is unique and I gave up long ago trying to get him to come out with a standard model. He is an artist in the truest sense of the word. He is very well known in the surf culture of So. California, having been a celebrated surfer in his youth and associated with legendary surfer Micky Dora.
His art, other than lap steels, has been featured in galleries in the beach communities.
I'm happy to see him finally promoting his instruments. He does play lap steel and guitar and we have jammed a bit over the years. His wife Karen plays a mean bass as well.
Buy some of his steels already!
