Does anyone have information on the steel guitar instrumental "Hana"? This is the tune normally played in B11 tuning, has a slightly Latin feel.
I'm interested in who wrote it, year written, and if there are any lyrics.
Thanks

"Hana" was written by Don McDiarmid and Robert Miller.
Off the top of my head the words go like this (this is how I sing it, but I could be a few words off from the original?):
Hana,
beautiful Hana
heaven where I found you.
Hana,
tropical Hana
kissed by an ocean blue...
There, in the shade
of the lazy lau hala,
We loved
and our love was true...
For new love
soon becomes true love
in Hana
heavenly Hana. |

Don McDiarmid/Robert Miller
Don was a record producer here in the islands.
Don't have any information about Robert Miller. |

Thanks guys.
Any idea when the song was written and was popular, and who had "the hit" with it? I'm asking 'cause I'm thinking of doing it at a show and want to give the audience a little background info on it besides "this is one of the small group of songs usually performed in the B11 tuning" |

Bill,
The best source is to contact Don's son, Don McDiarmid Jr. He is also a record producer who has followed in his father footsteps.
I have an old vinyl from Charles Kaipo Miller who plays this song, so I'm guessing that the song was written sometime in the mid to late 50's. |
