I have a late 70's MSA S12, and I have noticed pedal noise when I play it. Sort of a quite thunk sound when I used the A, B, or C pedals. I don't notice it with the knee levers. I also have to watch my hand on the pickup, or it will create noise as well.

This steel has a Supersustainer in it. Could the pickup be microphonic, or is this just part of having an older steel?

I wouldn't mind replacing the pickup if I could get a better tone. I love the tone of an Emmons, and I know this is not anything close to the same animal. Could anyone suggest a pickup to get me closer to that tone?

Thanks,
Dave
