I want to try using a wound 6th on my Mullen RP SD-12. Does anyone know which bellcrank hole I will have to use for the 1/2 tone raise on P2, and the full tone on P7?

Thanks.

Bill, if the unwound string was 022, you might want to try 024 or heavier for the wound string. Wound strings are a slightly higher gauge for the same pitch. This will also help keep the pull from being too long.

David,

I currently have an 020 for my 6th string, so 022 is probably the right size. I'm just looking for which holes in the bellcranks to use, to save me a little time underneath.

Thanks though Smile

I don't know the Mullen bell crank, but for sure you will have to move the rods down (further from the crossrod) by a notch or two. Start with two notches and if it's too much slack, back up to one notch.

Use the same hole as the 3rd string for a wound 6th for P2.
P7 will need to be moved 1 or 2 holes further away from the cross shaft.

Has anybody actually used a wound 6'th on a universal with a whole tone raise? That sounds like a looonnngg way to pull that skinny wound string Confused
