I finally got started stripping the five different refinishes off my 59' stringmaster. I could barely find the original color but I did and it is that semi transparent light creme color. This guitar has been light creme, walnut, baby blue yellow and more spray can yellow.

The fret boards are worn through the black in places and bent out of shape in others since they have been taken off so many times.

Has anyone refinished these? I think I can flatten out the board with heat and pressure and I was thinking I could repaint the whole board in black and then sand the raised parts with a 320 grit to get through the black paint and expose the silver metal.

Or,
where can I get a new one, or two. it's the 24 1/2 scale guitar.

Thanks
Steve

One of my friends just picked a nice 22 1/2 scale Fender type off Ebay. Not cheap either. I think he mentioned 70 bucks.

I doubt that painting and sanding would do the trick, because; the fret~surface is lower than the painted~space between!

Steve,
I believe Tom Bradshaw may have re-production fretboards for a Stringmaster. Mine were in pretty decent shape when I had the guitar restored, therefore I was lucky and didn't have to replace them. I'm sure you'll love it when it's finished.

You can get to Tom's website at:
