Today I replaced the 5 socketed BA4560 chips in my Nashville 112 with 5 Burr Brown OPA2604AP opamps. It was a very simple procedure. While I had the amp opened up I noticed 3 BA4560 chips soldered to the power supply board, and 3 others soldered to the daughterboard with the line out and other rear jacks.
My question is... Would there be an improvement in sound by replacing these with Burr Brown chip too? I realize it would be a more involved procedure, but how would it affect the sound? |

You would need to know what the circuit is that the chip is used for. Replacing the chip with a different one, depending on what the chip is used for, could have a negative effect.
For what it's worth, I replaced the Op Amps in a Nashville 400 that had an early factory mod, with the OPA2604's and didn't notice one bit of difference - and I'm an amp tech. |

Mitch, how did you like the change? There are several of us that hear positive improvements in the Nashville 112's. Warmer and much smoother highs and and overall sweeter sound. I liked it so much, I put them in my second 112. See the posting,Nashville 112 questions below. |
