Hello everybody. Been viewing the forum for several years now and decided to do a post. Sure enjoy this medium. Play a Rains SD-10 with Nashville 112 & Hilton pedal. Play mostly in the Kankakke, IL area and this past winter in sunny and warm Mission, TX at a place called Pepe's on the River.
Proud to be a friend of Fred Justice, a great, great player from Globe, AZ. and also I am a fan of Roger Light and Darrell Cummings from IL, all three of which are Rains steel guitar players. |

Hey Jim Prater, welcome to this wonderful forum and its real good to see you on here.
Jim you really went out on a wire telling everyone that you know me no really, I place a high value your friendship Jim.
Roger Light is a forum member also and you'll see him post once in a while.
Jim when are you and Carol heading back to the frozen tundra?
we need to get together and jam before you leave the desert.
The truth of the matter is folks, Jim and I have known each other since way before I started playing at the steel guitar, somewhere around 38 or 39 years now. I used to come to where Jim and his band were playing and set in and sing with them. Man, those were the days at the Porky Barn bar!!!!
Jim I better shut up before I get us both in trouble pal, call me. _________________ Email: azpedalman@gmail.com

Hey Jim, did you ever run into a neighbor of mine while you were in Texas by the name of Jim Gardner (guitar & vocals)? Jim lives about a block and a half from me and goes down there every winter. I believe I've heard him mention Pepe's on the River...........JH in Va. _________________ Don't matter who's in Austin (or anywhere else) Ralph Mooney is still the king!!! |

Thanks Lee for the welcome and as far as Pepe's, I've

Hey Jim,
Great to see you've joined up! I'm tryin' to keep the steel seat warm for ya! It is such a great honor to get to play all summer long with a guy like Jim! He has taught me more the last 3 years that we have been pickin' together than I have learned on my own the last 20! Thanks Jimmy!
Better stay in AZ a little longer. The weather really stunk this past week-end. We even cancelled the Roberts, IL gig Sat night See ya around Easter?

Hey, this is one great forum. As one of my old standy bye lines used to be - "Where have you been all my life".
I packed up my "Rains" last night and went up to "Arizona Joe's" in Apache Junction, AZ and what a really good time. They thought I were a "star"
I'm sure it was the RAINS. A really good house band and believe it or not, the bass player's daughter was married to one of my old time friends' son from way back in IL. Small world. It was talent night and I played songs I must admit I had never heard before. But I met some to the greatest poeple on earth!!!. Country music is still alive, you just play it and stay true to your music. |
