God afternoon folks,

My son Brad and I are going to be in Nashville this weekend and are wondering if anyone knows if any good steel players have regular gigs that we could go listen to while we are in town. Aside from the lower broadway scene, are there any clubs where we could catch some nice playing? Lower broadway seems to be a hit or miss. At least it was the last time we were down in 2004. Used to go to Gabes back when murph was pickin' there. Any place else like that around anymore that features steel guitar?

Email millerbam@hotmail.com if you know of any. Thanks everyone!

Terry

Terry, I always enjoy the western swing music of the Time Jumpers at the Station Inn on Monday nights. Last I knew John Hughey was on steel, if you'll still be in town on Monday!

In my experience on the early shift (6:00) on the weekend you might find steel players on lower broad. Its better during the week. Weekend nights tend to be very crowded with loud drunken meatheads that want to hear that rock music.

During the week it can be steel player heaven on lower broad. John Hughey at Legends and Doug Jernigan across the street and a few others guys all playing there hearts out.

I usually take a walk up to printers alley but I have never found a steel player there.

Check the concert/club listings.

Weldon Myrick plays the Long Hollow Jamboree every Saturday night last time I looked. If you have never seen Weldon play it is as sweet a style of steel as you will ever hear IMHO!
