"Wang Wang Blues" is an olde tune but I'll bet that many of you have never heard it played by this particular artist. The sound on this series of Green Lable recordings is so radically different than the black lable Mercury records. I tried to entice JERRY into telling me what was the major factor here but he wouldn't budge. When I sensed and asked if it might have been his TROT-MOR guitar he was quick to inform me that he had recorded NOTHING, EVER, on the TROT-MOR.
Give it a listen, please, and let me know what YOU think the big difference was. JERRY told me, in fact WARNED ME, to never go directly thro' the board as they could mess up your tone so bad that you couldn't recognize yourself. At the time of this recording, JERRY had been striving to get on Juke Boxes of the day.
THIS is now up and running on the JERRY BYRD FAN CLUB Home Page. Another great tune that clearly shows JERRY's fine talents as early back as about 1948 (I think!) is the Ernest Tubb song that is playing on JERRY's MUSIC page. |
