Here's a blues player, Watermelon Slim, who has a very unorthodox way of playing his squareneck resonator. Being a lefty, he plays with the treble strings closest to his body, use a glass bottleneck for a "steelbar", and flatpicks.
That doesn't stop him from performing some of the most haunting blues I've heard from any living blues performer in years,- this guy is for real, and the video is a must for all lovers of authentic blues.

Matt that dobro is a couple hundred dollar Regal, probably upgraded a bit but not a lot of dough at all. I am really impressed with the tone he got! And that voice- wow. He is obviously a guy who has lived in that music for a while, reminds me of so many people I don't want to try to make a comparison... impressive. Thanks for the heads up, Steinar! |

Steinar,
Excellent find!! I'm killing time in a hotel room in San Diego, California (yea, working on the road again) and this made my night!
If you've got any other "finds" like this, please send em my way.

that's a righty dobro he's playing, upside down and backwards. |
Backwards, yes. But, not upside down.
Great music. |

Looks like just a flat pick too -- lots of sounds for no finger picks. |
