I had the pleasure of meeting and listening to Hal last time I was in New Orleans. He was playing some tasty steel (and providing some very sweet vocal harmonies) behind Gal Holiday at d.b.a. on Frenchman Street. He showed me his new Rains guitar - and it did sound good. It was great to meet you, Hal!
All the best,

My friend, you met one of Louisiana's finest steel players with Hal. Matter of fact, Louisiana is full of great STEEL PICKERS! |

Very true, Billy. As is Mississippi! The little town of Denham Springs, LA alone is home not only to Hal (he moved from Buras after the storm) but also Buck Grantham. When I saw Hal, he was filling in for another wonderful steel player from New Orleans, one Steve Spitz.

Hey Dan.....It was certainly a pleasure to meet you and I enjoyed our conversation. Thank-you so much for the fine compliments. Gal is great to work with...she really knows her history of country and rockabilly music, and has a great show with some fine musicians working with her, too. You mentioned Steve Spitz.....he's a great player as well. In fact, he's the one that asked me to fill in for him on gigs that he can't do. I've got many great friends (steelers) in LA and MS. Buck and Billy are two of my closest and dearest. Dan.....I hope we can meet again real soon......and thanks again. HAL _________________ HAL...Excel D-10 w/ 8 & 5.
