I wonder who the steel player was who played on the Grammy Awards on San Antonio Rose. I'll make two guesses.
Eddie Rivers or Jay Dee Maness. Eddie because of being in AATW and Jay Dee because of being first call in L.A. Anyone know? BTW really cool tone. Kind of distorted and really authentic.

I did not watch or listen, but your description sounds like Eddie R. He turns his master knob all the way up for that distorted tone. The few times I have seen him he was playing a triple Stringmaster.
