I am having trouble tuning my A pedal low B string. What is the theory behind the 2 stop collars on the pull rod. When I try to turn the rod nothing happens it just turns hard.I tried adjusting it but I don't know what I'm adjusting.
thanks

Ken,
You will have to be a little more specific about which Pro~1 you have. I think that the collars that you mention, might be brass barrels... If that is the case, then you have rack and barrel or barrels behind two hole pullers. The barrels screw in and out so there has to be enough thread left to make adjustments.... it sounds like yours may be all the way in. Sho~Bud suggests that you tighten the barrel all the way, then loosen about 5 turns. You will have to loosen the barrel on the rod, then move it until it almost touches the puller, or rack. Do this with the pedals released. After this is set, tune up open at the keyhead, then press the pedal and tune the raised note with the allen wrench at the changer.... |

that sounds like what I have and I'm going to give it a try.I did take the rod completely out and it seems strange that there's no threads on the rod. Here's a picture just to be sure.
thanks

You have the two hole puller with barrel system... a great 'Bud. The problem that you are having with the A pedal on string 10 is that the barrel at fig 1. should be behind a puller on the cross shaft for pedal A, not right up against the changer. It should look like fig 2...... only on the A pedal cross shaft. |

Mike,For some reason there were 2 stops on that rod.The guitar tuned fine until I tried to lower the pedals. When I flipped it over to see what was going on I found that extra collar loose and so I tightened it.It appears it doesn't even belong there. This guitar has a forth after market knee lever and I suppose whoever just left it there.
After reading some of the other posts lately I think I'll get the right knee lever for this guitar. It's not showroom condition due to the laquer checks but my old d-35 has laquer checks and I think it plays better.
thanks
