This guy can play his butt off. Lives in Brooklyn, plays with a bunch of bands, including The Silos (where he's the bassist) and The Jack Grace Band, as well as others, I'm sure, but man, he can play. He's an acquaintence, although we've only met once (when I purchased his Fender D-6 Stringmaster). He told me then, "I kind of do a pedal steel kind of thing" and while that's a big part of what he does, he can also do that Lindley kind of thing REALLY well.
Check him out: http://jackgraceband.com/html/music/index.html
FWIW, I'll be playing with the Jack Grace Band on Friday, 2/16 at the Rodeo Bar in NY, trying to do Drew's picking some justice.

I had the pleasure of hearing Drew for the first time a few years ago. He knocked me out. Afterwards we were chatting and in response to my being a pedal player he said to me, almost apologetically, "I've got to get into pedal steel" to which I responded "why!?" |

Thanks for posting this, Mike. Just listened to Try Not To Cry, and he sure does get a great tone, and play some really sweet phrases.
Nice stuff! _________________ Todd James Weger --

Hey Mike.......Drew is a very unique, original player.....and he really gets great tone & pedal sounds out of his six string lap, and that boy can wail!!!
I met Drew about 7 years ago....he & his roomate bought about 80-100 dobros from some player/collectors estate. I went over to his apartment.....you couldn't take a step without bumping into some kind of dobro in any various state of being.
It was pretty amazing. Drew is a funny, eclectic guy who is very, very talented.
I ended up leaving with a dobro 8 string and a Bobby Wolf resophonic...... |
