| I have a Black Box & a Fender Steel King. Does the Black box duplicate the EQ Tilt control? What is the best way to use this combination? Or is the black box more for use with my Peaveys? |

Hi James.
The FSK's tilt control is quite different than the variable impedance (Vari-Z) control on the Black Box. The FSK's tilt control is a very powerful EQ control that affects the overall bass/treble balance. If you were to look at a visual representation of the audio spectrum, the tilt control literally "tilts" the overall tone. In one direction you get more bass and less treble. The other way you get less bass and more treble. But it's different than your "bass" and "treble" controls. It's more broad. I love that feature on the FSK. It's similar to the "body" control on the Evans amps.
On the Black Box, the vari-z is a unique means of tone control. It actually works directly with the pickup itself to create a tone control circuit. By raising or lowering the impedance "load" on the pickup itself, the knob controls the high frequency response of the the pickup. It behaves differently than your traditional guitar tone control though. You'll find that it has a more even and smooth effect on the pickup's tonal response. Higher impedances (clockwise turn of the knob) will let the pickup deliver more highs and also a more dramatic resonant peak. Turning the knob to the left will do the opposite, giving you a darker, mellower, and less "peakey" response. The higher the impedance of the pickup, the more responsive this control is. Generally players will find that sweet spot that best matches their particular pickup.
The Black Box with the vari-z control along with the FSK make a nice combiniation. There is no reason the Black Box would be limited to Peavey amps.

Thanks for the quick reply. I guess I'll experiment with the box to find a tone that I like, then use the tilt to compensate for the various room deficiencies.
