In clearing out the attic the other day, I came across two 12” speakers. Knowing that there
are guys on the Forum that are experts in amps, speakers and related items, I thought that
someone might help me identify these.

l) Peavy “SCORPION” - I believe it may have came out of a bass amp

2) Cerwin-Vega (ER 124) - IMP. 16: have no idea where this came from

Are these just cheep throw-aways or, if placed in a proper enclosure, could they still
be of some use - preferably with steel guitars?

Thanks much for your input.......Wes

The scorpions are not very well regarded and won't bring much. The Cerwin Vegas might be but you'd have to research that model; they are certainly not any kind of high end speaker, but might be of use.

The Scorps were designed for lead guitar, and do a pretty good with a high-=powered amp, but they're only average for PSG. Still, they're about all I've used for the past 10 years.

The C-V would probably be okay for an acoustic amp, but they won't handle much bottom-end power, and there's not a lot of demand for them nowadays.

For steel, they aren't very good. But the Scorpion is an acceptable guitar speaker, to some players. The Cerwin Vega might be a decent bass guitar speaker depending on the model.

If it were me, I'd probably put them on consignment at a local music store, or try to sell them on eBay. They might pull anywhere from $25 to $50 each IMHO.
