Hi All. I joined the forum last month and have to busy to introduce myself. Here goes.
I have been a bass player for the last 37 years (I have 7). The avatar is my Modulus Q6. In 1978, I got the bug for pedal steel (Heavy influence Jerry Garcia, Commander Cody, Poco) and was to broke to buy one. I saved my money and bought a MarketRight Mark I Kit, 10 string, 3 pedals and 1 knee. I played for about a year and was getting the hang of it and then stopped, both the PSG and the bass (to busy with work, moved a couple of times, don’t really remember). I started playing the bass again about 15 years ago and have played in several bands and with anyone I could find to play with.
Last November, and I don’t know why, but I started getting the bug for PSG again. Kept hearing it, all the time and everywhere (in my head). You got to understand; I don’t listen to country music, but have always loved the sound of the steel. I’ve always played in jam and blues bands (Grateful Dead, Widespread Panic, ect) and hope to be able to continue in the future, but on the steel.
I work for a company called SAP as a consultant and am on the road Monday – Thursday. Currently I live in SE Florida and am working in Burbank, CA. It’s a long commute, but allows me to be home Friday – Sunday.
I hope to get a U-12 in the not to distant future.
I would just like to say how impressed I am will all of you. Your friendliness and willingness to help, from the most experienced played to newbies like me. I’m proud to be able to be a member of the forum.

Hi Michael,
Welcome from another new guy. After 30 years of drumming I've made a commitment to pedal steel.
There's a bunch of talented, bright folks around here. You can learn a ton just by surfing around and soaking it up...I do! |

Welcome Micheal; cool, another SAP guy (that's pronounced ess-eh-pea for the rest of you) that coast-to-coast travel must be a bit of a grind. _________________ Head full of this kaleidoscope of brain-freight, Heart full of something simple and slow
