I just received an Oahu acoustic that I bought on ebay, spurred by watching Fred Kinbom's video on these guitars. This is a cool little guitar! A lot of sound for the money, and perfect for blues. So I sat down this morning and did this instrumental recording of "Come On In My Kitchen" by Robert Johnson.

Come On In My Kitchen

Thanks, Fred!

Great job. I play my Ohau everyday and enjoy it's simple mellow tones. Keep up the good work.

Great playing Ben! And the recording and the guitar both sound great too!

What type of Oahu is it? Have you got a photo you could post?

(It's nice that the little Oahu film is making people check these value-for-money guitars out. I recently got a message from a guy who wrote "You saved me $600 - thanks!" Smile)

The guitar is one of those basic Oahu ones, brown with a metal bridge, painted white around the soundhole. I'll see about getting some pics of it. I had it tuned in open D.

The song is not exactly how Robert Johnson plays Come On In My Kitchen, and there are several blues songs that share that basic melody, including Things 'Bout Comin' My Way and Sittin' On Top of the World - so you're welcome to associate it with any of those titles!

Thanks for your replies!

Ben----You knocked it DOWN!!! The Oahu, the open "D" tuning---they helped, but you SLAYED the piece. Great job!
