| I Got the Carter Today. This Is a 2000 Model D 10 . I played It For about an hour . It Sounds Great It has George L 66s . Sustain Is also Really good . What I cant believe Is how Easy It Is Too play . The Pedals and levers Are Great .And It stays In tune .I have a 2006 Emmons legrande 111 I Also Like a lot.But I am Pretty sure My Next new guitar will be a carter . It Reminds Me Of My old MSA Durable Easy Too play and tunes Really Easy.Under my old MSA Was A Lable That Read inspected By Bud Carter Now We Know the rest Of The story. Randy Gilliam. |

| Of course I've only owned my Carter D-10 and a no name pedal steel that I tried to learn on way back in the early 80's so I can't compare my Carter to other steels but from my own experience my Carter really has some nice sustain too and I'm amazed at how it stays in tune. I replaced the stock George L's with some TrueTones and really noticed a big difference in sound. |

| Randy, I got my Carter D10, 9&7, in May 2004. I agree they have tuning reliability and excellent action on the pedals and levers. Is yours 1" shorter like mine. Mine seemed to fit you pretty well when you sat down to it a few weeks ago. Would be interested in hearing yours-let me know where you'll be playing the next few weekends (email). |

Got my used Carter S-12 universal in 2003. It is a 2000 model with BCT. Got it off a guy who had never played a steel in his life, and a full blown universal was too much for him to handle. It came with a Lawrence 712 pickup, but I changed it for Wallace TT. Big improvement. Great guitar in all respects.Light, easy to play, sounds good, and above all, holds it's tuning. I loved my '97 (retrofitted BCT) Carter D-10 with the E-66 on the E9. It sounded amazing..........I miss it.

| Thanks Dave Mickey Mike and Chris. I played it 2 more Hours today and It Plays great. Dave it is standard height. I am Playing This weekend Friday at Trays Country For a rodeo Kickoff from 3till7 then Friday night at Richters 9 till 1.00 Sat. A Trail Ride Dance in Lockhart VFW. 8 till 1200 And Sunday At Martinez Hall 3 till 6.30 with Bruce hudson and the most wanted Band b.h.m.w.b.com. Next Weekend At the Sanantonio stock show and Rodeo We will Be in the Budweiser Tent From 8.30 till 12.00 And No one In The Band drinks Can you beleive that.Hope you can make iT Randy . |

Hey Randy, the rodeo will be in SA the first weekend in Feb? You may have just given me a great idea for my wife's birthday on Feb 4th. She's been on me about taking her to a rodeo.
And yes, that Rains is a keeper, you're a great guy to deal with. |

I have a 2005 Carter d10 which I love. If I had to get rid of one of mine it would be the P/P in spite of the wonderful sound. The Carter is light plays easily stays in tune and sounds great.  |

Randy,
I traded for a 2003 S/D 10, 4&5 over the Holidays, and I've logged some pretty extensive playing time on it since then, and I'm still loving it more each time I sit down behind it!
As mentioned above, it plays very smoothly, has great pedal and knee lever action, stays in tune well, and has tone to the bone!
This is something I never thought I would, or could say about a steel and the strings, but I'm still playing the strings that was on it when I got it [all 10 of them] I don't know how long they were on it before I got it, don't know what brand they are, but unless an important gig comes up I don't think I'll change them, just see how long before I break the infamous 3rd, and 5th strings! 
Randy I hope you enjoy your Carter as much as I'm enjoying mine, they're great guitars!

Randy, I played the stuffings out of my '70 D10 MSA, and then in '96 met Bud at a northern CA steel show. Simple logic dictated I get one more PSG build by this man..... and shortly I ordered the '97 S12 I've been playing ever since. They used my exact specifications (including the clear finsh maple with abolone inlay... which later showed up as a "custom option"), and John Fabian called me almost daily when working on my 7 KL's, now that's real concern.
You copied my first words on the Carter.....soooooooo easy to play (and yes, if they haven't deleted the older posts you can see mine on the Carter web site too.
I can only tell you this PSG only garners compliments on the tone, and that's real nice
BTW, of course I still have and play my '70 MSA, but only at home and for studio use, she has earned a rest
