Topic: Nashville 1000 has distortion while using reverb ????? |

I have a Nashville 1000 and it seems to be experiencing some distortion while using reverb. Fine without reverb. Anybody else have this problem. I traded a NV 112 for it and never had this issue. Can anyone tell me what to do. (Mike Brown) if your out there please help. SS# 11234482 LOC- 04

I recommend that you check several things which might cause this symptom.
First, check to ensure that the two bare wires are "not" touching each other in the reverb harness.
Next, check that the ground wires from the reverb pan to the connection on the underside of the circuit board are secure. Be sure to check the grounding at the RCA style plugs on the pan itself.
Other than these suggestions, the problem would probably be electronic related.

Thanks Mike it was not the NV 1000 amp. While using another amp a Peavey Artist (Tube Amp) 200 watt with a 15" BW it happened again. So it could not be the amp.
I believe it was my Goodrich Volume Pedal or my Hilton Sustain box.
Not sure which I will have them checked out.

I had the exact same problem. I thought the Nashville 1000 sounded great but there was distortion in the reverb if I turned it up past 2 or 3.
I described this to Joe Sapp at a steel jam and he said to pull the plug where the reverb goes into the top of the amp, squirt it with contact cleaner. I did this twice, wiggled it around, and it sounded like brand new. I could turn the reverb up to 8 without distortion.
It sounded far-fetched. It took me about 3 months to get around to trying it, and another 6 months to finally (just now) say "Thanks Joe, it worked!" |

Good on yer Joe....worked for me too. 
....S-L-O-W-L-Y getting to grips with some of the niggling little faults that this amp (Nashville 1000) has developed!!

Sorry , But..
Mike Brown Is not Gonna likre hearing this BUT.. ..The Nashville 1000 is the WORST STEEL amp, (in my opinion and many others) that Peavy ever made. I have owned 3 Peavey Session' 400's and one or two Peavey Session 500's..I"ve done shows with the Nashville 400' s also and they were all KILLER amps..
The Nashville 1000's came up TOTALLY SHORT in the TONE range ..PLENTY OF POWER BUT they suffered miles in tonality..I NEVER was able to get the tone out of the Nashville 1000's that I wanted..
THAT BEING SAID..I have not one but two Nashvllle 112's..THESE ARE INCREDIBLE AMPS..WE can find them all day long on this forum for $400 bucks or less..If you have a small room then one is sufficient ..If you need a few more balls in a large venue then two of em will cover the range no Problemo!! just my opinion .. IF you want the best that Peavey offers in their newest Steel amps then GO FOR THE PEAVEY 112's.. |

......knowing that this is possibly the worst amp in the Steel world doesn't really help me a lot...

Hey Kev,
I think that your situation is isolated as if all of the Nashville 1000 had this symptom, then yes, it would be inherant in the design of the amp. Its got the same modified Nashville 400 preamp, the same 1501-4ohm shallow basket BW speaker, but the power amp is a digital design.
If you wish to send the chassis only to me here at the factory, our techs will return it to factory specs. Make sure this symptom is not speaker related and send the chassis and the reverb pan to;

| By the way Mike Brown and Peavey are one of the most reputable bussinesses Ive delt with over the years.. I sent an older Session 400 to them through Mike and they replaced capaciters and a vew other component free of charge to bring it back to specks..First class operation to deal with all the way..Just Sayin.. |

....my attempt at light-hearted humour (directed towards an earlier response) seems to have back-fired here...
Actually, I've just returned from a lesson with a guy who swears by the 1000.....as I know many others do...so, not a design problem I'm sure!!
This particular amp....although well presented cosmetically, has had a 'chequered' history I feel. Following some of the comments on the forum, I'm toying with the idea of re-flowing all solder joints on the pre-amp board....over-kill I'm sure...but would rule out dry joints as the culprit  |
