The leg clamp of my Stroboflip is giving me trouble. The screw will not tighten to the leg. There is a flimsy round piece of plastic connected to the inside of the screw, and it seems to be preventing the clamp screw from tightening the clamp to the leg. I can't figure this out for the life of me.

Does anybody know what's up with this?

It sounds like the problem I had. I had to unscrew the screw so much to get it around the leg, that the screw threads were no longer engaged. Then when I put it on the leg, it was too short to press in enough to re-engage the threads. If this is the case, the fix is easy. Drop a note (e-mail) to Peterson and they will send you a slightly larger clamp. They send it quick (less than a week in my case) and there is no charge. It must be common, because there was a yellow note in the box with my tuner that said,,,," let us know if a larger clamp is needed and one will be provided...."

The new clamp works great on the leg of my GFI.

That's great to know, Jack. I've come to rely on my tuner being on the leg, within easy reach. The V-Sam leg clamp was a bit more bulky, but at least it worked. Smile

I've sent an email to Peterson, so hopefully I can get a replacement as well.

Chris Denise told me to tell you if you can not get it right she will send you the NEWFIE way of attaching it..... not to sure what she means by that but I'm sure you do.
Do you still have plans for getting up to our neck of the woods???

Hey Charlie,

I think Denise is talking about "black tape", the newfie version of the mainland "duct tape" fix. Denise, don't think it didn't cross my mind. Smile I may have to do this tonight. Cool I think the other popular fix, the bungee cord, might be overkill.

Charlie, I will be in Toronto from Sun., Jan. 28th to Thur., Feb. 1st. I will be at the Marriot hotel, by the airport. How far are you from there? It would be great to get a visit in there somewhere. I'll have a rent a car while I'm there, so I'm mobile.

I just got a reply from Peterson. They're all out of new leg clamps, but are expecting some more next week. So it will be a bit of a wait, but I was impressed with thier quick reply.

Thanks all........

Chris, in the meantime, you can bend the V-shaped bracket to a more open angle. It's metal and takes some force with pliers or such, but it works pretty well.

I used it in the wait period for the new bracket and it worked fine.
