Thanks for posting this, Keith! The Last Town Chorus is mainly Megan Hickey playing an Oahu Diana lap steel and singing. Fans of the band Hem might enjoy this; I certainly do.
It's great to see someone else attempting something new on lap steel. _________________ Brad’s Page of Steel

Got to see Megan and LTC last night here in Atlanta, with an overflow crowd of about 8 people. Too bad if you missed it (and odds are that unless you were hiding out back, you did), they were astonishingly good and very humorous onstage. The room sounded amazing, Megan's lap steel was seriously screaming through what I am pretty sure was a tweed Blues Junior and a delay. She has a minimalist approach to the instrument but the flourishes and dynamics used made it evident that she was no slouch on the guitar; the Oahu tonemaster had a great tone and the songs were well constructed. If you want to see something different and very new in the world of non-pedal steel, I'd suggest checking it out. I talked briefly with Megan and she will be joining us after her tour has ended. WOOHOO! |

I just get a kick out of finding someone doing something different with the instrument, and I think Megan has found a pretty unique approach. Her new CD is out in about a month and I intend to snap up a copy so I'll update when I get it. The preview we got at the show was exceptional. |
