Topic: New pedal for my British SD10 |

Hi everyone.
I would like to add a 4th pedal to my beast. Obviously I would like to try to match the pedal shape as best as possible.
Here's what I've got at the moment:
Do these look like any existing pedals that you know of?
Im not holding out much hope for an exact match as this is British steel with a lack of information but something close would work.
Any ideas ladies and gentlemen?

Pedals of an old Sho-Bud are close, but not the same. If you can't find a match, why don't you get 4 new pedals?

Well, that would be the sensible thing to do. 
Two reasons why I'm not so keen to get 4 new pedals:
1. Cost
2. I like the shape of the current pedals.
It's times like this I wish I was back at college with access to the foundry and machine shop. Or that I had a place with enough room (and enough money) to put together a machine shop at home. 
One day...
I'll check out the old Sho-bud pedals.

If you take one of your pedals to an aluminum foundry, they can make you a copy in a 'loose sand' flask setup. They usually charge by the pound (gram in UK). Have a couple made of ALMAG 35. Most foundries offer machine shop service at nominal rates. They could put all the necessary holes in the pedals for you, and it would then be up to you to sand and polish them to match the others. There will be a bit of a shrinkage factor involved, but it won't be detectable without measuring the differences. I definitely would NOT switch to a different pedal.

This was something I was considering too.
I hate not having the resources to do this kind of work myself anymore.
Out of interest, why do you feel so strongly against using a different pedal? I've got my ideas why you might but I'd like to know from another point of view |
