Yeah, that would be Don.
I also met Bangkok steeler Gary Hussar last night for a few minutes.
Talked Sho-Buds for awhile till I had to go play. I want to see his Baldwin Crossover sometime.
Our gig went very well last night, offers of $20 to play another song...
Can't argue with that.
Picked up another unexpected gig for tonight,
but of course unblanced mic mixer... 2 mics not 3...
guess yours truely sing VERY loud tonight...
So much for the blend, back to bluegrass in the park level.
Ah well. _________________ DLD, Chili farmer. Plus bananas and papaya too.

coming to order.

Yes, that would be Don McClellan. Hey Billy, You gotta see this place. South East Asia is so charming and full of life I don't know how to begin to describe it. If I had moved here when I was 25 I would have been dead by the age of 30 with a huge grin on my face. I fall in love 25 times at every corner. So I walk around the block a lot. I'm a man with a lot of love in my heart. I brough an ukulele with me and I'm beginning to really play this thing. It's a cool instrument. For those of you who don't know Billy Wilson he is not only a hot steel player but a very good jazz uke man among other things like piano, guitar, acordian and anything else you put in his hands. He da man. See you in April Billy.
I fly to David Donald's place tomorrow for a few days and we'll see what adventure's are in store for me there. Aloha and kop koon krup, Don
PS Hey everybody, if you're not envious your not paying attention. Go to Thailand as soon as you can. |

After I talked with Don this AM, 10 minutes later got a gig for this evening.
I just got back.
7 to 8 we played then, a full costume Katoey /
ladyboy drag show with sound track and choreography.
Like Kinnaree goddesses and one GREAT
Tina Turner impersonator.
A 300 lb katoey, the comediane in the troup, was doing
a 'flower thing' with the german birthday party people,
like an old 30-40's Stork Club show. Work the room.
One young guy couldn't deal with it and suddenly jumped up
and backed away, BUT went over the steps and onto the beach.
Came up sputtering sand. HYSTERICAL.
Then we played 2 more hours of our stuff.
With some 'Air guitarists' and assorted drolery going on.
And paid in cash too.
Gotta watch out on Bangkok street corners,
some of the prettiest most feminine ladys... ain't ladies.
Walk around the block and check again! LOL.
Seriously there are some truely gorgeous ladies here,
and Don must have a crick in his neck by now..
It turns out we have solid gigs till sunday,
so I'll see if I can get Don some steel time on some tunes. _________________ DLD, Chili farmer. Plus bananas and papaya too.

Just returned from a week there! Been there quite a bit over the past few years. Haven't had the opportunity to play there as yet, but really like taking the longboats on the Chao Praya river!

Hi Jim and Billy.
Jim you never said you were in the area, so you got no visit. Ah well.
Don is ensconced in a little house 4 doors down from me.
He has toured much of the island and had a fine time so far.
He heard the band thursday, and will sit in on Ukelele
and my Supro for some tunes tonight.
We been having a good visit.
He also had a great time talking philosophy,
and 'centering with the universe' with Roland our guitar player.
What started as a 5 minute visit to his place lasted 2 hours.
I have a pic or two of Don down at the studio project too.
He's back to Bangkok sunday AM, got things to do.
But I have no doubts he'll be visiting again. _________________ DLD, Chili farmer. Plus bananas and papaya too.

We have the Supro in his tuning,
and we been jamming a bit.
Plus myself on mandolin and Don on Ukulele.
Yeah fine player for sure.
Tonight he gets a '60 Supro 6 into a '60 Fender Tweed Champ,
with a bass roll off knob on the back.. very sweet sounding rig. _________________ DLD, Chili farmer. Plus bananas and papaya too.

A seriously great night tonight.
Don was smoking and the whole band
and the audience were moving sympathetically.
3+ hours straight through no break.
Normally we end on time, no question,
but tonight 2 encores,
which could have closed the room down,
yet the owner just waved us on.
Thanks Don, it was a fine gig. _________________ DLD, Chili farmer. Plus bananas and papaya too.

Hi folks, I'd like to thank David Donald for the hospitality and kindness he and his bride-to-be showed me while I visited them at Koh Samui. And what a charming and romantic island Sumui is. As David said, they let me sit in with their band last night and it was a gas. Standing room only! I also saw the studio David is building and wow, wow, wow! That's going to be outragous. I hope I get back there someday. Don |

Don, you're always welcome.
We played last night, and it was a bit of a let down, not having you sitting in.
And we played great for a good audience too.
A couple of people from the night before asked;
Where's that slide guitarist from last night? _________________ DLD, Chili farmer. Plus bananas and papaya too.
