I played Sho-Buds from 57 till 90 but for mechanical reasons I now play Mullen, I actually still have my third built Sho-Bud D-9 [originally a D-8]that has a high G# that was ordered in 57 from Shot & Buddy, It had the high G# since 57 [yes,before Mooney] also I play every Sunday in Coon Rapids, I also had the first Super-Pro & played it from 77 till 90, maybe we can get together someday soon? au |

Al,
You maybe don't remember, but you bought one of my old Sho~Buds. I had a D-10 finger tip model that I traded into 4 Winds Music in St. Cloud for a Pro III. You wondered who the lunatic was who covered up the card symbols on the fretboard with chrome tape.

As far as necks go, it really doesn't make much difference. I guess on lacquered guitars, I like to see a wooden neck and on mica guitars, I think they should have metal necks.
If you notice, there are two Emmons p/p's in the pictures with metal necks. These are NEW p/p's that I bought from Ron Lashley last year. The cabinets are 30 years old but everything else is new.
The sunburst Emmons p/p started life with metal necks but I swapped necks with another p/p, routed in the inlay and installed them on this guitar. |

Al,
It even had some coca-bola wood in it. It looked good but that fingertip tuning system left a lot to be desired. I still have the little brass plate that Shot Jackson sent me for it that said: "Custom built by Sho~Bud for Erv Niehaus". |
