Hi guys n gals.
I am new .. not only to this forum .. but to pedal steel playing also. I am a migrating bass player and have trouble with 4 strings never mind 10 but I am always up for a challenge cos I just love the sound of steel guitar.
Many thanks to all here already , as I have been scanning through the posts and found lots to be helpful.
I hope you will all bear with me as I am gonna ask questions as I want to learn to play correctly.
I do play lap steel and dobro so not quite a novice to slide but certainly no expert.

Phill Morris Very Happy
nice to meet you all

Phill - Welcome, good to see that another Walesonian (if that's how you say it) has joinded the forum. My ancestors are from Wales and would love to visit down there sometime. If you ever need anything don't hesitate to email me.

...the term is Welshman. The country is Cymru. Wales comes from Norman French "Galles" (Gauls), though there is a myth that it comes from the Saxon "Walas" which means "foreigners".

Hi Phill from a drummer who's migrated to steel for the same reasons you mentioned. Hello from Seattle! There are lots of experienced players here willing to share information. (I'm not one of them...experienced that is!)

Thanks for the welcome guys.
Most appreciated.
I need this forum because there are very few steelers in my area .. about three or four that I know of , shame really as it is a real art to play well ( an I got a long ways to go yet ) Rolling Eyes
My biggest problem is remembering where all the chords are .. as I play bass regularly in a band and telecaster in another along with dobro / lap steel .. all with different tunigs ... lol.. and I not getting any younger, so brain is not as sharp as it used to be .
It is also an honour to be able to talk to some of you great guys here , you all have my admiration.
Phill
